The New York-New Jersey trail conference publishes hiking maps of many Yorktown trails.
Trail Publications
The Yorktown Walk Book, published by the Yorktown Land Trust in 2010 and newly expanded in 2016, is the best source of information about parks and trails in Yorktown. The Yorktown Walk Book is available for $5 at numerous locations in town, such as the Town Hall and the John C. Hart Library.

The second edition of Walkable Westchester – A Walking Guide to Westchester County, published by the New York – New Jersey Trail Conference in 2014, has descriptions and maps of 200 trails all over Westchester County, including Yorktown.

Map of the North County Trail at Yorktown Heights
The Yorktown Trail Town Committee has produced a map showing Yorktown Heights and the North County Trailway. The map is available as a printed brochure and soon will be posted on two signs along the Trailway for the information of trail users.

Trail Organizations
Yorktown parks and trails are owned and managed by several organizations:

The Friends of Hanover Hill Farm and Environmental Center manage the farm, which is owned by Westchester County.

Volunteers from the New York – New Jersey Trail Conference maintain many of the Yorktown hiking trails and publish maps and descriptions of those trails. Walkable Westchester is among its many hiking publications.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation operates FDR Park.

Teatown Lake Reservation owns and manages the nature preserve and education center, and manages several nearby county-owned parks.

Westchester County Parks manages the North County Trailway, the Briarcliff-Peekskill Trailway, Kitchawan Preserve, and Mohansic Golf Course.

The Westchester Land Trust owns Hemlock Brook Preserve, Danner Family Preserve and part of the Hunterbrook Linear Park.

The Town of Yorktown Parks and Recreation department has responsibility for Town-owned parks.

The Yorktown Land Trust is a local non-profit that preserves open space in Yorktown, including Turkey Mountain and parts of the Hunterbrook Linear Park. This group also publishes the Yorktown Walk Book.
