2. Sylvan Glen Park Preserve

Video produced by YHS Class of 2018 senior Samantha Silverman

Pipeline construction in Sylvan Glen has affected most of the trails.  See this New York - New Jersey Trail Conference page for up-to-date details.

Description:
6.2 miles of hiking trails pass  abandoned quarries on town -
owned park land. The “Quarry Oak” shown in the photo is 18 feet in circumference. The popular Sylvan Glen Paw Park (dog park) is

a few hundred feet down the trail from the Morris Lane parking area.

Where: Sylvan Glen can be entered from two locations: Morris Lane, and Stony Street.  For Morris Lane parking, take route 202/35 west to Lexington Avenue, north 0.5 miles to a right turn on Morris Lane. The parking lot is at the bottom of the hill. For the Stony Street parking lot, take Stony Street from route 202/35 across from B. J.'s. Turn left past the Chase Bank, cross the Bear Mountain State Parkway at the traffic light, and go up the hill 0.5 miles. At the top of the hill, turn left into an unmarked gravel driveway, opposite 2820 Stony Street and before you reach Winding Ct.

The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference has a detailed description and map of Sylvan Glen Park Preserve.
